Radość

 

A tranquil wooded area on a small road lined with residential buildings less than half an hour by car from the city center. The plot itself is the last on the road before a lovely dense forest. The focus of the project was to enjoy the view of this wood but gain precious light – as the wood faces north.

A simple solution evolved, an L with the service area backing closely onto the adjacent property. This long side of the L has small windows on the back with full length strip windows towards the woods.

The entry piece, off the road, passes the main living pavilion continuing on to the bedroom area. A later decision was the addition of a floor above which could become a small autonomous apartment.

Facing the road, the pavillion has a series of slit windows which filter the light and afford privacy, animating the living area which is partially separated from the kitchen by the fireplace.

The view through sliding doors is out to the garden with its reflecting pool and the wood.
The house in poured concrete and brick has wood ceilings and tiled floors.

House is serviced with a ground-source heat pump providing 100% floor heating.
